Privacy Policy for Rolls

Effective date: July 19, 2026

Rolls is a photo library application for macOS. This policy explains how Rolls handles your information. In short: Rolls collects nothing and sends nothing.

No data collection

Rolls does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information or usage data. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.

No network access

Rolls has no network capability. The app is not able to connect to the internet or any server. Nothing about you, your photos, or your library ever leaves your Mac.

Your photos and library stay on your device

Rolls organizes photo files that already exist on your Mac or on storage you connect to it. Your original image files are referenced in place — Rolls does not copy, move, upload, or modify your originals. Your catalog (the information you add, such as film stock, camera, ratings, and notes) is stored locally on your Mac in a library folder that you choose.

On-device features only

Some optional features use Apple's on-device technologies — for example, subject tagging and photo analysis (Apple Vision) and natural-language description and critique (Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models). These run entirely on your Mac. Your images are not sent to Apple, to the developer, or to any third party.

Files you choose to create

When you explicitly ask Rolls to export a photo, write metadata back to your files (XMP/IPTC), or create a backup of your catalog, those files are written only to locations on your own device that you control. Rolls never transmits them anywhere.

Children's privacy

Because Rolls collects no data, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
